CAMP GROUPS

Camp Groups

The schedule for camp group visits is fully booked at this time. We are no longer accepting summer 2008 reservation requests.

Guided Tours

Tours are interactive and designed to introduce campers to the fun of exploring works of art from around the world. Guided tours are for campers ages 5 through 16.

Group Size

A group may have no fewer than 10 people and no more than 25 people (including counselors). Please note that 1 chaperone is required for every 15 campers. Special Education groups require 1 chaperone for every 9 campers.

Group Fee

All fees are waived for camps located within the five boroughs of New York City. Camps outside New York City pay $14.00 per person.

Tour Schedule

Guided tours are offered Tuesday through Friday at 10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. All tours last approximately one hour.

Self-Guided Visits

Campers ages 5 through 16 may explore the Museum's encyclopedic collection independently with their counselors. Please note that self-guided visits also require appointments.

Self-guided appointments are available Tuesday through Friday at 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 1:45 p.m.

Visit Preparation

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Met before bringing your camp group to the Museum. This website includes several valuable resources, including a listing of curatorial departments,  the Collection Database, and the Timeline of Art History.

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel a camp group tour, please call 212-288-7733. The cancellation option on this line is available 24 hours a day. Fees cannot be refunded to groups that cancel with less than two weeks' notice.

Lunch Facilities

There are no lunch facilities inside the Museum. Camp groups are welcome to picnic on the steps of the Museum or in Central Park.

Camp Group Visits to The Cloisters

The Cloisters, the branch of the Museum devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, also offers a variety of summer programs, including camp group visits. Please call 212-650-2280 for more information.
