Sunday at the Met Programs
The Sunday at the Met series takes place in the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium and offers lectures, films, panel discussions, literary presentations, and musical performances centered around a special exhibition or art historical theme. The contemporary artist El Anatsui, whose work is featured in the special exhibition "The Essential Art of African Textiles: Design Without End," will discuss his artistic process with Alisa LaGamma, curator in the Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, and Chika Okeke-Agulu, Assistant Professor of African and African Diaspora Art at Princeton University.

In conjunction with the special exhibition "Art and Love in Renaissance Italy," three lectures will explore the various exceptional objects created to celebrate love and marriage in the Italian Renaissance. In celebration of the arrival of a twelfth-century Armenian Khatchkar (Stone Cross) as a long-term loan to the Museum, this program will include four brief lectures on Armenian history and art. Helen C. Evans, Mary and Michael Jaharis Curator for Byzantine Art at the Metropolitan Museum, will introduce the event.
